World Challenge is the original school expedition company providing overseas educational trips to school and college groups. Travelling to developing countries, groups participate in a trek, a community or conservation project and some rest and recreational activities.

I have been asked to totally overhaul all marketing items for World Challenge. These have included the development of a consistent style guide to be applied across all materials, including the website, brochures, pamphlets, email marketing and electronic presentations. This has been tailored to appeal more specifically to the target demographic, and is in the process of being implemented. One of the biggest projects was the complete re-design and development of the World Challenge sales site including updating the navigation, the interface and the site map. This included programming HTML, CSS, XML, Flash as well as the design of all of the graphical components and copywriting.

Rwanda is an incredibly beautiful, diverse, vibrant and positive country. This is not something that I expected given the horrendous genocide of 1994 where up to 1 milion people died in only a few short months. Rwandans are determined that their country will not be defined by this event, and are proud of their heritage, and the incredible social and economic progress made since 1994.

I've been dreaming of travelling to Rwanda to see the Mountain Gorillas for many years, and I wasn't disappointed. From the moment we spotted large knuckle prints in the mud, I couldn't wipe the grin off of my face. It was very difficult to photograph them with low light, a thick canopy, and the dark eyes and black bodies. I honestly couldn't have cared less though. I was lucky to do 2 treks, with an hour spent viewing them each time, often coming into close proximity with the massive Silverback Gorillas. The money paid for the permit to visit the gorillas is absolutely critical in maintaining the security and conservation efforts Rwanda have in place to protect the Gorillas. Bhutan Travel Bureau is one of the most experienced tour operators and travel agencies in the small Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. I have been completing branding and marketing projects for BTB, as well as all graphic design for print and web since 2006.

This year it was decided that their site required a total re-design, a task that was co-ordinated with the development of a totally new branding strategy. The design and use of colour has been adopted in line with the BTB's new I.D., and the content formed to not only promote the services of BTB, but to also act as portal for information on Bhutan. Navigation was improved, and the site generally made cleaner, more dynamic and user friendly to improve the user experience. This project included the design of the site as well as all photography, copy writing and content development and programming.

Natural Focus Safaris are a travel company that specialises in organising tours in wildlife and wilderness destinations. During my role as full time graphic designer for the company (also incorporating African Wildlife Safaris), one of my main responsibilities was the production of 8 brochures covering their vast range of destinations. Coming in at 88 pages, the 2011/12 edition of the South America brochure was one of the company's largest to date, only exceeded by the 116 page Africa brochure.

This project included the entire design and layout of the brochure, image selection, colour correction, copy writing, photography, liasing with grounder operators overseas, proofing and pre-press.
